Our Environmental Commitment

Environmental Policy

As a research, manufacturing, and distribution hub for diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, our Chiba Factory is committed to preserving the surrounding natural environment including green forests and farmland and to contributing to people's health under the following policies:

  1. We will contribute to environmental conservation by continuously striving to achieve the following seven objectives:
    1. Comply with relevant laws, regulations, and other requirements agreed upon by our factory
    2. Prevent contamination in drainage, exhaust, and soil
    3. Reduce energy consumption
    4. Reduce the amount of radiation in the work environment
    5. Promote reduction, reuse, and recycle of raw materials
    6. Reduce waste and increase recycling
    7. Effectively utilize management resources (people, materials, and capital)
  2. To achieve the above objectives, we formulate the specific purposes/targets, implementation plans, and education and training programs, and actively implement them.
  3. We participate in volunteer activities, community events, and dialogues, to smoothly communicate with local residents and partner organizations.

Environment Preservation Efforts

Surrounded by Sambu cedars, a precious variety of wood in Chiba, our Chiba Factory is committed to green management suitable for the environment. In 1995, our factory received an award from the Kanto Regional Bureau of International Trade and Industry, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (now the Kanto Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry) as an "Excellent Greening Factory" for actively promoting greening and striving to improve the environment both inside and outside the factory.

We pursue environmentally conscious management while considering social responsibility as a pharmaceutical company.

  • We use recycled products in our business whenever possible, including product carton boxes and uniforms.
  • We try to recycle industrial and general waste from our company and carefully sort items that must be disposed of before handing them over to recycling companies, etc.
  • Radioactive waste generated during our production processes is handed over to specialized contractors in accordance with the law, and they are managed separately from ordinary waste.
  • Radioactive wastewater generated during our production processes is strictly managed by monitoring levels of radioactive substances and processed in compliance with the law.
  • Our wastewater is treated in a purifying chamber at our factory. TOC (total organic carbon) and pH of the treated water are checked, and the water is discharged into an observation pond wherein we raise carps and then eventually to the river. We also measure radiation levels to ensure safety.
